Reflections on #HACK2025 Singapore

As part of my doctoral research, as well as my own passion/interest in digital missions, I flew back to Singapore for the final weekend of #HACK2025 organized by Indigitous SG & Digital Wesley. Simultaneously between October-November 2025, #HACK events were being held/ran in 49 countries across the world. The year before, in 2024, there were 1,113 participants across 58 cities in 30 countries, with 71 champions who led local #HACKs to bring the gospel to every city. A few weeks before, I was also able to join virtually the #HACK weekend in Sydney helmed by GRN Australia (their first time organizing!).

This year’s theme was “New Places, New Spaces,” from Mk. 16.15,

And He said to them, “Go into all the world & preach the gospel to all creation.

I had the privilege to sit in to observe the planning committee in the past few months leading up to the #HACK weekends, & was truly blessed & encouraged by like-minded brothers & sisters in Christ (young & senior) who were faithful, passionate, obedient to God’s call in the Great Commission (Matt. 28.18-20).

During the #HACK weekends, it was also really inspiring to see the great turnout, with 11 teams working on & presenting their #HACK challenges & solutions. The sharings & testimonies at the closing session & afterglow were also evident of God’s work & blessings over the events & participants.

Rev. Raymond Fong (PIC, Wesley Methodist) shared from Matt. 14 on the feeding of the 5,000.

  • Passion in believing – heart, compassion; not how much you have, but willing surrender that matters
  • Surrender in offering – not the size of idea, but extent of surrender (to a great God)
  • Perseverance in serving – trust God to provide, we have to be hands & feet

I thank God for this wonderful opportunity, this has been my 2nd time joining the Singapore hackathons, & I look forward to continuing my research & participation in encouraging & supporting digital mission endeavours, to spread & fan into flame this global movement of God (motus Dei), “taking the gospel to new people, new places & new spaces.”
