This post documents news & updates about an emerging alliance or movement, namely COALA (Christ over Asia (Africa, Arab world) & Latin America), comprised mainly of mission agencies, leaders, thinkers, practitioners from the Majority World (or Global South).
This emerged initially at the WEA Mission Commission Global Consultation @ Chiang Mai, Thailand in Feb 2023. There was a second follow-up meeting held at the 9th National Consultation of World Evangelization (NCOWE), organized by the Korea World Missions Association (KWMA) in June 2023 in South Korea.

The first official conference was held in May 2024, with the theme “From Christendom to Poly-centric Missions, ” which brought together 38 missionaries, mission leaders & pastors from 30 nations, including COMIBAM from Latin America. A signed statement was published, “Recommendations for Mission Practice for the Majority World.”

COALA 2.5 was held after Lausanne 4 in Seoul, S. Korea, in Sep-Oct 2024, on the theme “New Wave, Next Mission.”

COALA 3.0 was held in Apr 2025, in conjunction with Ibero-American Missionary Congress (COMIBAM) in Panama.

The fifth meeting, COALA 3.5, was held alongside the WEA Global Assembly in Seoul, S. Korea, in Oct 2025.
